I'm in Arkansas.
It reached 110 actual temp where I live today, and reaching 115ish in the heat index.
A few cities away from here, it reached 127 in the heat index.
127.
...127...
....
In Arkansas.
Records are being broken everywhere, my city broke one today, but
ONE HUNDRED TWENTY SEVEN?
This is Arkansas!! Yes it's in the south and yes it gets hot but jesus it's never ever EVER been that hot here. What in the world is going on??
I feel so sorry for everyone that has to work outside in this, mainly because you CAN'T. It's deadly. My dad is a carpenter, and he has to work outside in this doing heavy manual labor and I worry about him every day. I just wish we would get a break, it's just been constant, just getting hotter and hotter and hotter... we never really even had a spring, it went from snowing one week to 100's the next. And it's been like this for months now.
I just want it to be OVER. You can't do anything in this sort of heat but sit around. It's depressing.
How hot is it where you live, and how are YOU dealing with it?

On another note, in my last journal I said that I was getting a new macro lens for my camera, and that I had decided on a Tamron 90mm macro. It arrived to me and I tried to use it for nearly two weeks, but it was impossible to ignore the fact that it was defective. I think it was damaged during shipping, it was nearly non-functional in manual mode. I usually manual focus but when I tried AF it was extremely noisy, slow, and often wouldn't focus. But the biggest problem was that when I tried to use the LCD, the image that appeared on the LCD was significantly darker than the actual picture the camera took. So it was impossible to use the LCD in this mode, and I kind of need to with macro work.
For a picture that required a shutter speed of 100, I would have to bump it down up 25 in order to have the image show up on the LCD. Thus the resulting picture was basically completely white.
For some reason, putting it on auto ISO fixed that issue in that, what I saw was what I got.
But it wanted to put it on unusable ISOs. For instant, under extremely bright desk lamps where ISO 100 should of been fine, it started selecting ISO 6200. That's just crazy!! A lot of the pictures I took and uploaded with the tamron are very noisy because of it.
So I've decided to return it, And I got a canon lens instead. Canon 100mm macro. It was about $100 more, but I'm loving it so far. I'm pretty sure I got a defective lens from Tamron, and I don't know if it was their fault or the shipping peoples fault, so I decided not to chance it. Plenty of people have & love the lens and rave about it, so I don't think anyone should really be discouraged from getting it unless you personally experience something bad, too.
I can't honestly compare the two because I don't know what to contribute to the brokeness of the lens, but the images from the canon just look & feel so much crisper.
